Designed for students who have competed SPA 202 (Intermediate Spanish II: Language and Culture) and are continuing to build conversational confidence, the Intermediate program emphasizes language development through academic study and cultural immersion in Sevilla. Students enroll in COWA coursework in subject areas such as language, art, history and politics, alongside other GVSU students. Through small, focused classes and daily life in Sevilla, students strengthen their Spanish skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Spanish society and culture.
Designed for students who are ready to put their Spanish into practice at an advanced level, the Advanced program in Sevilla challenges participants academically while moving them closer to Spanish fluency. Students who have completed SPA 321 (Composition and Conversation I) or SPA 320 (Composition and Conversation for Spanish Heritage Speakers) and SPA 322 (Composition and Conversation II), or higher, are eligible to enroll in the program.
Advanced students may take one or two regular university courses alongside native Spanish students at the Universidad de Sevilla or at Camus Universitario EUSA. In addition, students enroll in COWA courses designed specifically for advanced learners and taught byt local professors, providing a supportive academic environment alongside full linguistic and cultural immersion.
