Seville’s city center is dominated by many of the most famous monuments of the city including the world’s largest Gothic cathedral and the La Giralda bell tower, which was formally the minaret of a Muslim mosque during the Almohad dynasty’s reign in Al-Andalus. The Alcazar Palace and gardens are worth visiting numerous times, especially when there are cultural events and movie showings in the evening, which make the place feel even more like it was taken out of a storybook. Within the center, you can also find the Barrio Santa Cruz, which was formally the Jewish quarter and one of the most historic parts of the center. An afternoon can be well spent just wandering around and getting lost in the labyrinth-like streets and finding little plazas filled with orange blossom trees. The Arenal neighborhood is home to the famous Maestranza bullring –– one of the most revered places to see a bullfight in Spain. If you don’t have the stomach to see a fight, you can visit the facilities to learn about the history, art, and important characters in the world of bullfighting. One final area worth checking out in the city center is the neighborhood of Alfalfa. Here you can find good eats and lovely plazas, such as the Plaza del Salvador, to enjoy a montadito and caña on a sunny afternoon.

Los Remedios, while usually not a very touristic area, has quite a bit to offer. Located across the river, on the western side of the city, Los Remedios is a residential neighborhood, recognizable for its modern, post civil war 1950s architecture. Calle Asunción, the true heart of Los Remedios, is a pedestrian street offering many shops, restaurants, and bars. You may also find yourself on Calle Betis, which runs along the river connecting Triana to Los Remedios –– it is one of the most popular streets for nightlife in all of Seville. Notably, Los Remedios is home to the famous Feria de Abril, or April Fair. If you are in Seville during Feria, you will likely spend your afternoons and well into the night in casetas in Los Remedios. .

Nervión is a sprawling, modern neighborhood located in the eastern part of the city. It has a residential feel, and is an important economic and commercial zone. Some of the most sought-after homes in all of Seville can be found in Nervión in areas such as Ciudad Jardín, which was built for the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929 and made up of houses built in the Regionalist style. In Nervión, you can catch a soccer match for one of Seville’s teams at the Sevilla Futbol Club’s stadium, as well as catch a train at the Santa Justa train station. Nervión offers several shopping areas, including Los Arcos shopping center and Nervión Plaza where one can also catch movies in their original version.

El Porvenir is a neighborhood of the city of Seville that belongs to the South district, southeast of Maria Luisa Park, bordering to the north and west with the Prado de San Sebastian and Huerta de la Salud and east with the neighborhoods of Pirotecnia and Tiro de Linea, south with the Ronda exterior street Cardenal Bueno Monreal and the neighborhood of Tabladilla. The neighborhood begins with the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, with the idea of an architecture of villas and tree-lined streets as the city of the future, designed by leading Sevillian architects of the time. You can visit places like the Parish of Santa Genoveva or the Campus of Law and Education Science.
