NC State – Summer

The NC State Summer Program in Sevilla offers short-term, five- to six-week opportunities for students whose schedules may not allow a semester- or year-long study abroad. Programs vary in focus, including language, culture, and technology, international markting or even internships. 

Sevilla, ranked the number one city to visit by Lonely Planet in 2018, is home to the world’s largest Gothic cathedral and an extensive network of bike paths rivaling Amsterdam. The city’s rich history spans Roman, Muslim, and Golden Age influences, and its streets are alive with culture, festivals, and local traditions.

From strolling along the river and picnicking in María Luisa Park to enjoying a tinto at El Salvador, summer students will immerse themselves in Sevilla’s culture, practice their Spanish, and make unforgettable memories—all while earning academic credit

Programs

Language, Culture and Technology

The Language, Culture and Technology program in Sevilla offers a month-long opportunity to explore the connections between language, art, culture and technology in Spain’s past and present. Students study in Sevilla, the capital of Andalusica and one of Spain’s most culturally vibrant and historially significant regions. Through immersion, exploration and guided investigation, students gain a deeper understanding of Spanish society while experiencing the city’s rich cultural landscape firsthand.

International Marketing

The International Marketing program in Sevilla offers students insight into global business practices through a Spanish perspective. Designed in collaboration with NC State’s Poole College of Management, the program combines coursework taught by an NC State professor with visits to local businesses and talks by guest speakers. Through direct engagement with professonials and organizations in Spain, students develop a deeper understanding of international marketing and cultural factors that shape business in a global economy.

Global Internship Program

Students in the Global Internship Program will work with small- to mid-sized companies and start-ups in a variety of industries. In collaboration with COWA, students identify potential internship sites and meet with prospective employers prior to placement. While internships are unpaid due to immigration regulations, students earn NC State academic credit for their professional experience. Outside of the workweek, students have time to explore Sevilla and enjoy the city’s rich cultural traditions, including tapas, flamenco and local festivals.
